I find beeswax is safe. It is what makes lip balm solid and lotions thicken. It is easy to make both lip balm and solid lotion.
Lip Balm or Solid Lotion Recipe:
0.5 ounce beeswax
0.5 ounce cocoa butter (or shea)
1 ounce rice bran oil (or any liquid oil)
0.5 ounce beeswax

1 ounce rice bran oil (or any liquid oil)
Melt in a glass container in the microwave for about 2 minutes until all liquid. Stir and pour in a container. As it cools it turns into a solid.
